Islazul increases its retail and leisure offer with new brands

Islazul Shopping Centre, managed by TH Real Estate, has strengthened its position as a leading shopping and leisure destination in the Madrid Autonomous Region, thanks to the addition of 30 new operators to its retail offer in 2015, currently comprising 177 retail stores.

Dealz España, owned by British group Poundland, and fashion chain Kiabi, which has opened its largest store in Madrid at Islazul, are among the leading names to open their doors at the centre. The attractiveness of Islazul is clear for operators. In the case of Dealz, for example, the Islazul store is the firm's first shopping centre location. New brands at Islazul in 2015 also included Ranger, Bissú, Druni, Pimkie, Celopman, Oteros Sport, Greenwich, Plusman, Muy Mucho and, coming soon, Snipes and Merkal.

Manuel Martín, Head of TH Real Estate for Spain and Portugal, stated " Islazul is undoubtedly strengthening its position as one of the leading shopping centres in Madrid, proof of which lies in the confidence placed in the centre by the 30 new operators which have joined its retail mix in 2015, together with the further 30 operators which have renewed their lease agreements".

As well as the new retail brands at Islazul, 30 existing operators, including Polinesia, Desigual, Stradivarius, Eurekakids, Oro Vivo, Du Pareil au Même, MS Mode, Tous, Hunkemoller, Imaginarium Levi's and Tezenis renewed their lease agreements in 2015. Many of them have also refurbished their stores with their latest brand image, another sign of the strength of the Islazul centre. Of particular importance among the leisure options is the recently opened Ilusiona 18-lane ten pin bowling alley and the Queens casino, which join the Neverland games area next to the 13-screen Yelmo Cinema complex.

The centre's spacious food court, which is fully-let, has also been strengthened through the introduction of well-known brands such as Mexican Factory, Pizza Hut, The Good Burger, SouSushi, Parrilla de Pollos Planes and Rodilla.

The shopping centre’s food offer will benefit from the recent announcement by current hypermarket operator E.Leclerc. Its decision will allow TH Real Estate to reconfigure the retail mix with a food anchor that is in line with the centre’s offer and the needs of its customers.

Marta Cladera, Head of TH Real Estate's portfolio in Spain, highlighted "These new operators will contribute to the already well-balanced retail and leisure mix at Islazul, as well as serving to confirm that the plan we have rolled out at the centre since its acquisition has been correct".

The Islazul shopping centre has been part of TH Real Estate's Iberian portfolio since 2014. The portfolio is made up of eight shopping centres; six in Spain, one in Portugal and one in Brazil: Nervión Plaza in Seville, Miramar in Fuengirola, Vialia Malaga, L´Aljub in Elche (Alicante), Bulevar Getafe and Islazul in Madrid, Norteshopping in Oporto (Portugal) and the JK Iguatemi shopping centre in São Paulo. The portfolio, valued at c.€1.3bn, also includes a logistics platform (Alovera, in the province of Guadalajara) and a hotel (Barceló Malaga).
