Henderson Global Investors, on behalf of its c. £1.05 billion UK Retail Warehouse Fund, has signed Nike at its Craigleith Shopping Park in Edinburgh. Nike has taken a new 10 year lease on the former 10,00 sq ft JJB unit with plans to begin trading on 25th April.

The sports retailer represents a great addition to the already strong retail line up, including M&S, TK Maxx, Boots and Outfit. It provides an ideal location for Nike which will benefit from the strong footfall and calibre of existing tenants.

It represents one of the first retail warehouse lettings for Nike who are looking to expand in this sector throughout the UK.

Michael Neal, fund manager for the Henderson UK Retail Warehouse Fund, said: ”The retail warehouse market has seen void rates increase over the past few months following a number of administrations. However, this letting underlines the quality of assets in Henderson’s Retail Warehouse Fund. Craigleith Shopping Park is once again fully let, just 4 months after the demise of JJB with a new and exciting facia that clearly has far greater appeal and relevance to the consumer than the outgoing operator.

“Elsewhere, we are currently witnessing an increased demand for retail warehouse space across our portfolio, as more and more retailers see the benefits of trading from prime shopping parks.”

Cushman & Wakefield and Savills acted as letting agents on behalf of Henderson.
